From 9-12 July 2026, the Newark Book Festival returns with a standout programme of bestselling and award-winning authors from across the country, marking its 10th birthday with real panache!

This year, the Festival’s theme is Celebrating the World of Words, and they have put on a four-day programme of events which will appeal to the whole family.

Newark Book Festival - Jay McGuinnessHeadlining Newark’s literary festival on 11 July 2026 will be Jay McGuiness, best known as a vocalist in the boyband The Wanted and winner of the 13th series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2015. However, Jay is more than just famous, he’s a Newark lad, born and bred, having attended the Charlotte Hamilton School of Dance in Newark, where he honed his artistic and musical skills. Now you’re most likely to find Jay treading the boards as he has forged a very successful musical theatre career. On Saturday 11 July at the Palace Theatre Newark, Jay will be discussing his latest fantasy novel, Poison Tides, the sequel to his debut hit Blood Flowers. There will be a post-event meet and greet with Jay, where he’ll be signing copies of both his titles. CLICK HERE to book your tickets but be fast!!

Newark Book Festival - Harriet TyceIf you too spent last autumn glued to The Traitors, then you won’t want to miss Harriet Tyce, a former criminal barrister turned best-selling crime writer, and contestant on BBC’s The Traitors, who is also among the headliners for the Newark Book Festival this year.
