250 Anniversary Celebrations Mathew Derbyshire

Mat Derbyshire, one of our Partners, is taking to the skies in aid of Rainbows Hospice. and when we say skies, we actually mean the dizzying 212 feet of the Derby Cathedral tower!

As part of our ongoing 250th anniversary celebrations and activities, the staff at Tallents Solicitors are seeking to raise as much money as possible for as many charities as possible. The purpose is to give back to the communities that have given us so much over the last 250 years.

With that in mind, Mat is unlocking and unleashing his inner daredevil and heading for very top of Derby Cathedral on 3 October 2026 for a charity abseil in aid of Rainbows Hospice!

Rainbows is the children’s hospice for the East Midlands, and they’re here to help families make the most of the time they have together, with expert palliative and end-of-life care, and the freedom to choose how and where that care happens. At home, in hospital or at their hospice, the team at Rainbows is whenever they are needed, for families across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire.

Alongside other intrepid fundraisers, including Anne Davies from BBC East Midlands Today, Mat will climb 189 steps up to the roof of the cathedral’s iconic tower. And once at the top he’ll ‘enjoy’ the expansive views of the city of Derby before being harnessed up, leaping off and braving the 212ft abseil back down!
